Everything that has to do with your landing gear, controlled by one device only. The SmartBox allows full control over your retracts and gear doors. If you want it all, this is your choice.

Compatible with ER-30, ER-40, ER-50 retracts (eVo, Classic & NG); brakes and servo motors / linear actuators for gear doors.

  • INTUITIVE  COLOR TOUCH SCREEN: Setting up your landing gear has never been easier. Navigate through comprehensive and colorful menus with the touchscreen to configure and adjust your system to suit your needs.
  • GYRO ASSIST & SPECIAL BRAKING:  Set up the integrated gyro to assist on takeoff and then straight braking on landing, as well as optionally use the different ABS settings.
  • GEAR SEQUENCER: Our powerful sequencer allows you to set up the retract and door sequence with full control over all aspects. The timings for door opening and closing can be adjusted individually for each of the 8 protected door outputs, adding 50 sequencer steps; your imagination is the limit!
  • COMPATIBILITY GUARANTEED:  Electronics evolve, and so do working voltages. And that is why the SmartBox has two battery inputs. If your door servos need a voltage different from your retract, you can use a second battery just for them.
  • ALWAYS UP TO DATE:  With the Electron Retracts desktop App, you can easily update your controller with the latest firmware and newest features.


FAQ SMARTBOX

RETRACTS
  • Can I use a 2S battery with ER-50 NG retracts?

ER-50 NG retracts are rated for 3S LiPo voltage. Therefore, the battery that you have to connect to the retract unit controller should be a 3S battery.

With a 2S battery, the ER-50 NG retracts will work, but the speed and torque of the retraction will be reduced. Depending on the length and weight of the strut and the wheel, and other factors, the performance of the retract with a 2S battery could be enough to operate properly.

  • What retracts can be upgraded to a square thread SPINDLE?

All retracts purchased from January 2013. The serial number must start with 13, 14, 15, 16, etc (the first two digits indicate the manufacturing year)

  • Can I REVERSE the retract trunion, or change the RETRACTION ANGLE?

This is possible only in the “reversible version” of our retracts, released from January 2015 onwards. The indicative “reversible” is engraved next to the serial number.

  • What battery can I use with my retracts?

Electron suggests using a single small battery for retracts and brakes, and don't share the receiver or engine battery.

500-900 mAh will be enough for at least 25 flights, so with a very small battery, you will have enough power for a full flying day.

The BRAKES don't have enough POWER to stop my plane in the desired distance

Voltage increase: The last software for ER-30 and ER-40 allows for an increase in the voltage up to 13V (not for ER-50). With 3S LiPo, it is possible to increase the brake torque a little. Old control units can be updated with the new software: (contact us). Is possible to test the controller with a 3S LiPo to know if this controller accepts 13V. If not, the retracts simply will not run; nothing should burn. The ER-50 is limited to 10V for security, so only mechanical adjustments are possible.
